“Man, smells good in here,” Lane blurted then suddenly stopping and staring at the blonde who was mixing orange juice in a pitcher. The tension was so thick in the room no one moved or spoke for a moment.
“Lane, Jeff, TJ, have a seat. Coffee anyone? We’ll have the food ready in a moment. Don’t worry, Ana and Catherine are taking care of the good stuff, I’m merely a helper,” Lacy jabbered on.
“Catherine? Who? What? Hell, what happened to you since last night? Was I that drunk I didn’t notice you?” Lane stammered, walking towards her oblivious of the others watching. Reaching up and touching her face sliding his fingers through her shoulder length blonde hair, he pulled her head towards him and lightly kissed her lips.
“Stop that,” Catherine said swatting his hand away. Secretly she was thrilled. The handsome Lane kissing her, it was a dream come true.
Laughing, he said, “just checking if you were the same Cat I kissed last night, and damn if you ain’t. So what’s with the change of tactics? You think you have a better chance of an interview now?” he asked releasing his hold on her.
“I don’t know, do I?” she asked looking directly into his eyes.
“Yeah darling,” I think you just might, but I’m gonna take some coaxing,” smiling back at her and winking.
“Well for sure your reputation precedes you. You’re acting just like I’ve heard.”
“Well now, don’t let me disappoint you,” leaning forward and grabbing her close and kissing her again.
